What good touch controls feel like

Great mobile games are not just ports. The ones that feel right were designed around thumbs from the start, and you notice the difference within minutes.

Take Neon Drift Circuit. Its drifting works because the touch zones are generous and the car responds predictably. Compare that to games that cram tiny buttons into a corner, and the gap is obvious.

The best interfaces hide complexity. Ironhold Dominion handles dozens of strategic options yet never feels cluttered, because it leans on drag gestures and clear tooltips instead of menu stacks.

When I test a game, I play one-handed for a while on purpose. If I can manage most of it with a single thumb, the developer thought about phones. If my palm cramps, they did not.
