Five offline RPGs worth your evenings

Five offline RPGs worth your evenings

June 8, 2026 · Markus Vogel

Offline RPGs are a shrinking breed on mobile, which is a shame, because the genre fits a quiet evening perfectly. Over the past months I rotated through a stack of them, and a handful stood out for actually respecting your time.

Emberfall Chronicle leads my list. Its timeline-based combat makes every turn a small puzzle, and the story about a dying ember kingdom gave me a reason to keep going beyond the loot. No energy meters, no login walls.

If you want something lighter, look for RPGs with manual saves and no idle timers. Those two features alone separate a game you can enjoy on a flight from one that constantly pesters you.

A tip from experience: before a long trip, open each RPG once in airplane mode. Some reveal hidden online checks only after the tutorial, and you want to find that out at home, not at 30,000 feet.
